Ian McCann founded the Practice in 1997 along with David Isherwood, following a number of years at other large Practices where experience was gained across a wide range of fields. The company was then rebranded in 2019 after Davids retirement. Ian has worked on a number of large-scale projects during his 35 years of experience, delivering buildings for clients in excess of £60million. Ian’s portfolio of work covers all sectors of the industry.
Ben joined IMA Architects in 2007 and graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) Degree in Architectural Design, Technology & Production at De Montfort University from in 2013. In 2015 Ben achieved Chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. Ben was promoted to the position of Associate Director in January 2021.
Ben has played an important role in moving IMA Architects forward with BIM including modelling a number of buildings in Revit and managing a number of high profile projects using BIM.
Joe joined IMA Architects in 2011 and has furthered his experience across a range of projects including a number of significant projects, particularly within the commercial and industrial sectors.
Joe studied at De Montfort University from 2004 to 2008 graduating with Bsc (Hons) degree in Architectural Design Technology & Production.

Harvey gained his architecture degree at Huddersfield University before starting work and subsequently completing his education part time at De Montfort University, Leicester. He passed his Part 3 exam in 2002 at Nottingham University.
In Oct 2023, Harvey joined as project architect having a spent a year working as a construction project manager. The short period on site has provided some invaluable experience in construction processes and health and safety.
Harvey has acquired experience working with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD along other Architectural software packages. He has the ability to visualise and solve technical problems using a variety of media.
Mark studied part time whilst in practice and completed his education at De Montfort University, Leicester in 1993. When the grade was introduced, he became the first Technician Member of Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and progressed to become a Chartered Architectural Technologist in 2015.
In June 2024, Mark joined IMA as a Principal Architectural Technologist Over his 30 years of post qualification experience he has worked in and delivered buildings in nearly all of the mainstream industry sectors. More recently he has been working with logistics Clients to develop and deliver facilities for sites throughout the UK.
Mark has a wealth of construction and technical knowledge and is able to communicate design and technical solutions using various methods, from hand drawn sketches through to digital output such as AutoCAD and AutoDesk Revit.
Jackie joined IMA Architects in 1998 as administrator and has since taken on the role of Company Secretary.
Jackie has been responsible in creating the Quality Management System for IMA Architects and maintains Lloyds Register accreditation to ISO 9001:2015.
With 15 years of experience in business development within the medical sector, Dee has honed a deep understanding of client relationship management, strategic growth, and market expansion. Now transitioning into the property sector, Dee brings a wealth of expertise in identifying opportunities, building strong partnerships, and delivering tailored solutions to meet clients' needs.

Nilani Aruldas studied at the University of Derby from 2015 to 2018 graduating with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Architectural Technology and Practice.
In 2018, Nilani joined as a graduate at IMA Architects. Subsequently, she gained experience in variety of large-scale commercial projects both speculative and end users.
While at IMA Architects, Nilani has acquired experience working with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD and other Architectural software packages.
Jason Hennessy studied Geology at the University of Leicester from 2004 and graduating in 2008.
Since teaching himself AutoCAD, he then cemented his experience by completing the Autodesk AutoCAD Certified User Course in 2017.
Whilst at Fusilier Design, Jason was responsible for amending client’s AutoCAD drawings from Tender through to Construction issue. These drawings ranged from structural and customer plans, through to block elevations and conveyance plans.
In late 2017, Jason began working at IMA Architects and has already gained experience across a wide range of projects and software packages.
In September 2021, Jason completed the BRE BIM ISO 9650 Essentials course and is currently enrolled in the BRE BIM ISO 9650 Delivering Information Management course.
Sofia Coviello studied at the University of Lincoln from 2017 to 2020 graduating with a Bachelor degree in Architecture.
In March 2021, Sofia joined IMA Architects as part 1 Architectural Assistant. Subsequently, she has begun her part 2 qualification as part of the L7 Apprenticeship scheme with the University of Nottingham.
During her time at IMA Architects, Sofia has engaged with a variety of projects ranging from residential to large scale industrial projects. She has acquired experience working with Autodesk Revit and Lumion software during this time.
Tasawar completed his BA/Part 1 studies at Kent School of Architecture in 2019, after which he undertook a year in industry prior to commencing his MArch/Part 2 studies at Manchester School of Architecture in 2020. Following completion, Tasawar joined IMA Architects in August 2022 as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant.
During his time at IMA, Tasawar has worked on a range of industrial/commercial projects. Moreover, he undertook his Part 3 studies whilst working here. His practical experience at IMA played a huge role in helping him to acquire necessary skills and knowledge to obtain this qualification. Tasawar became a registered member of ARB, and a chartered member of RIBA in July 2025 thereby achieving his goal of becoming a fully-qualified Architect.

Over the course of his career, Mattia has worked across architectural, structural and MEP design, predominantly within the residential and exhibition sectors. This breadth of experience has given him a strong understanding of how different disciplines interact and integrate within a project.

Whilst at Fusilier Design, Jason was responsible for amending client’s AutoCAD drawings from Tender through to Construction issue. These drawings ranged from structural and customer plans, through to block elevations and conveyance plans.
In late 2017, Jason began working at IMA Architects and has already gained experience across a wide range of projects and software packages.
In September 2021, Jason completed the BRE BIM ISO 9650 Essentials course and is currently enrolled in the BRE BIM ISO 9650 Delivering Information Management course.

Architect
Sofia Coviello studied at the University of Lincoln from 2017 to 2020 graduating with a Bachelor degree in Architecture.
In March 2021, Sofia joined IMA Architects as part 1 Architectural Assistant. Subsequently, she has begun her part 2 qualification as part of the L7 Apprenticeship scheme with the University of Nottingham.
During her time at IMA Architects, Sofia has engaged with a variety of projects ranging from residential to large scale industrial projects. She has acquired experience working with Autodesk Revit and Lumion software during this time.

Tasawar completed his BA/Part 1 studies at Kent School of Architecture in 2019, after which he undertook a year in industry prior to commencing his MArch/Part 2 studies at Manchester School of Architecture in 2020. Following completion, Tasawar joined IMA Architects in August 2022 as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant.
During his time at IMA, Tasawar has worked on a range of industrial/commercial projects. Moreover, he undertook his Part 3 studies whilst working here. His practical experience at IMA played a huge role in helping him to acquire necessary skills and knowledge to obtain this qualification. Tasawar became a registered member of ARB, and a chartered member of RIBA in July 2025 thereby achieving his goal of becoming a fully-qualified Architect.

Architectural Technician
Jack de Vere Hunt studied at Leicester College 2015 to 2019 graduating with Higher National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment while employed as a Trainee Architectural Technologist at Jelson Homes.
In 2020, Jack joined IMA Architects as an Architectural Technician. Subsequently, he gained experience in variety of large-scale commercial projects both speculative and end users.
While at IMA Architects, Jack has acquired experience working with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and other Architectural software packages.

Architectural and BIM Technician
Mattia Fonzar studied at the University of Trieste (Italy) from 2005 to 2014, graduating with a Master’s degree in Building Engineering.
He joined IMA Architects in March 2025 as an Architectural and BIM Technician. Over the course of his career, Mattia has worked across architectural, structural and MEP design, predominantly within the residential and exhibition sectors. This breadth of experience has given him a strong understanding of how different disciplines interact and integrate within a project.
Having worked with Autodesk Revit since 2010, Mattia brings extensive expertise in the software’s capabilities and a comprehensive understanding of BIM processes and coordination.
