IMA Architects inspires next generation through Leicester school visits

IMA Architects’ Managing Director Ben Hall, Architect Sofia Coviello and Business Development Manager Dee Rana have been visiting schools in Leicester to inspire young people to consider careers in architecture and the wider construction industry.

The visits, which form part of the practice’s ongoing social value commitments, saw members of the IMA team speaking with pupils at Sacred Heart Catholic Voluntary Academy in Spinney Hill and Parks Primary School in New Parks about the role architects play in shaping the built environment.

During the sessions, pupils were given an insight into the different career paths within architecture and construction, as well as learning about the creative and technical skills involved in designing buildings. The team also spoke about their own journeys into the profession, giving students a real-life perspective on how a career in architecture can develop.

The visits were met with enthusiasm and curiosity from pupils, who asked questions about the design process and the different opportunities available within the sector.

At Parks Primary School in New Parks, students also had the opportunity to showcase their creativity by producing spaghetti tower models, demonstrating impressive imagination and problem-solving skills.

Architect Sofia Coviello added: “Speaking to students about architecture was incredibly rewarding. It was inspiring to see their creativity and curiosity, and hopefully we were able to show them that a career in architecture is both creative and achievable.”
